China Agricultural Economic Review (CAER, IF=4.6, JCR Q1) is an academic journal published by Emerald in association with China Agricultural University (CAU) and listed as a Top 3 journal in the field of Agricultural economics and Policy.

Previously CAER-IFPRI Annual Conference was successfully and continuously held seventeen years with different universities or institutes. With the aim of continuing these successful conferences, CAER is delighted to announce its eighteenth annual conference, co-organized with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Zhejiang A&F University, slated for October 30- November 1, 2026 at Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

The theme of 2026 conference is “Investing in People: Rural public services and the future of agriculture”.


Call for Papers and Session Proposals

We invite researchers to explore how investing in people through rural public services can shape the future of agriculture and rural development. You are encouraged to submit an individual paper for presentation or a poster, and if your team has a more comprehensive body of research in a specific field, you may propose a conference session .

Topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Education and human capital development

  • Skills training, vocational education, and rural residents'employment

  • Rural health, nutrition, and labor productivity

  • Social protection, aging, and rural wellbeing

  • Early childhood development and life-course human capital investment

  • Credit access, financial inclusion, and household development opportunities

  • Digital literacy, digital inclusion, and rural transformation

  • Agricultural extension, knowledge diffusion, and farmers'capacity building

  • Youth development, employment, and entrepreneurship in rural areas

  • Gender, inequality, and vulnerable groups in rural development

  • Migration, labor mobility, and household decision-making

  • Food systems transformation and human wellbeing

  • International perspectives on investing in people and rural transformation

Submission Guidelines

Please format the submission following the Author's Guidelines, which is available on: https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/caer?id=caer

All submissions will be evaluated by two independent reviewers with respect to their (a) relevance of the topics and potential for discussion, (b) originality, (c) academic quality, and (d) clarity of exposition.

Proposed sessions are encouraged to be forward-looking, diverse, international, and interdisciplinary

Author(s) of the accepted papers/sessions, or at least one of them, are required to register and present their work at the conference.

Registration Fee

RMB 1500 (Chinese Currency), including entrances to the sessions, badge, conference program, printed proceedings, coffee breaks, welcome reception, and meals during the conference. The registration fee will be paid at the conference registration desk.

Publication

The conference will compile proceedings for academic exchange during conference. Additionally, the organizing committee will select and recommend 5 high-quality papers to be submitted directly to CAER for external peer review.

Language

English. No simultaneous language interpretation will be provided.

Award

We will award the best referees and the outstanding papers published in CAER. The winners will receive a certificate and cash awards.
